New Arrivals

The act of painting itself, with its concentration and total immersion, is a gesture that embodies the fullness of the here and now and pushes Bonofiglio to explore the epochal shift humanity is called to experience: an evolutionary leap that requires merging the infinite dimension with the finite, stretching the present moment until it becomes limitless.
“Eternity is the full realization of time. When the past and the future unite, time is dissolved.”
This tension towards infinity takes shape in her works through the representation of floral elements with thin and endless stems, reaching towards the edge of the canvas as if they had no end. The formal simplicity of the image combines with the symbolic power of the message, generating a language that is both direct and layered.
The elements depicted—though evoking the city—emerge from the combination of tropical flowers on one side and countryside flora on the other: a botanical hybrid reflecting the artist’s life, divided between Italy and Indonesia. Mara Bonofiglio inhabits two deeply different but complementary chromatic and sensory worlds: from the Mediterranean landscapes, she draws the lively rhythm, sharp contrasts, and a sun-drenched palette that recalls stone; from the Asian archipelago, she absorbs the lush vegetation, the vibrating humidity of the tropics, and the richness of greens and blues. It is a meeting of rhythms and sensations that, like currents of water from different sources, converge into a unique pictorial language, capable of uniting roots and distant horizons in a single creative wave.
This overlay of viewpoints becomes in her works a metaphor for the simultaneous perception of multiple dimensions: parallel realities that coexist in the same moment and space, dissolving boundaries and opening the gaze to new possibilities of being. The flowers with endless stems symbolize the expansion of the moment, a present that does not close but extends, connecting the finite with the infinite.
The series, currently composed of about ten paintings, is characterized by an intense palette: the chromatic vibrations recall the living presence of Mother Earth, from the warm tones of Siena earth to the acidic shades of greens. In this new chapter, Bonofiglio pairs acrylics with the use of oil pastels, a choice that introduces new technical challenges and enriches the surfaces with a more direct and enveloping materiality, evoking the more urban influences of her training.
Through these works, Mara Bonofiglio invites us to dwell in an extended present, where simplicity and power coexist, and each flower becomes a sign of an infinite horizon inside and outside of us, where spaces mix and boundaries dissolve, just as happens in these times of universal transformation.
